Subject: Can't start client on Ubuntu 7.10 after successfull installation: Failed to execute child process
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes 8 Client
Technical Area: Install
Platform: Linux
Release: Notes and Domino 8 - GOLD
Reproducible: -Reproducibility-

Tried to install Rel 8.0 on Ubuntu 7.10 following all the helpful hints made here.

It looks like the installation works fine. Even the icons can be found in the office menue immediately.

But after I try to start notes for the first time I get:

Failed to execute child process "/opt/ibm/lotus/notes/framework/../notes" (No such file or directory)

Looks like there is indeed no Notes in the folder framework.
There are only folders called: eclipse, installer_logs, rcp, shared and a file called rcp_install_log.

Another issue:
Are there any files/folders you have to delete manually after an uninstall. After I got the error message for the first time I just uninstalled Notes but the installer failed to install then again so I had go back to a clean image of my Ubuntu installation.

EDIT: I just tried to start Lotus Documents, Spreadsheet and Presentations and those work fine!

Thanks
Harald
